Screen shuts off after replacement

Hi.

I have a weird problem that hopefully somebody can help me with. I changed the screen on a MacBook Air 2019 and after the screen replacement it now boots directly to a black screen (boot sequence is working/apple logo + progressbar is showing). If I shut the lid and opens it again, the image appears for 5 seconds before it turns black again. There's a tiny blue dot in the uppermost left corner when the image disappear. Backlight remains on and adjusting it works; but the image is gone.

External monitors work fine. Recovery/safe mode works fine. I've reseated connectors, but everything looks fine. Cleared NVRAM/SMC, reinstalled macOS.

Video:

The previous monitor showed an image constantly but had purple lines and incorrect coloring.

Thanks for your help.

How did the installation process go? Do you feel like the display may be a used part, or may have been damaged during the installation? You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the display. Does the laptop display have the same problems when the accessories are disconnected?

@zpl Thanks for the reply. Installation went smooth, no damage at all. Hard to tell if it's a used part, it was bought as "new oem" which it definitely ain't. Weird thing is that everything works until the display drivers load in MacOS - recovery installation + boot shows image just fine. No accessories attached. I'm thinking it's a bad display, however i just want to make sure it's not something internal in the MacBook.

As the screen does turn on and it does look like a clean image before the screen shuts down I wonder if the issue is within the backlight logic or the Hall lid sensor logic.

If you place a flashlight on the screen at an angle do you see a faint image of your screens icons? If you do that isolates it to one of these two possibilities.

It would be helpful knowing why you needed too replace display.

Thanks again for taking the time to diagnose the issue.

Sorry i forgot to write in my first post, there is no image once the screen goes off even when shining a light on the screen. I did however notice just now that once the screen "goes off" there's a tiny blue pixel in the top left corner. This pixel is only there once the image disappears - not on boot.

The original screen was shattered and had purple lines, but it did however work to an extend more than this new one, even though it was painful to look at.

@simonsessingoe - No faint image aims me to a defective display.

I agree with Dan! Sounds like bad luck with the part you received.
