Fully charged Robit vacuum turns off after 1-3 minutes

Hi! I'm pulling my hair out over here, this vacuum is not even a year old and it's already failing. I've done a bunch of trouble shooting which I'll lay out.

Issue:

  1. On a full charge (breathing green light becomes solid green, charging by directly plugging into the wall, bypassing the charge station. There is no damage to the charging cable and no issue with the wall outlet.)
  2. Robit operates normally for about 3 minutes before shutting off. No issues with suction or pathing.
  3. I can not turn it back on again, it acts as if the battery is dead. Normally when battery is low it attempts to dock itself, it does not do that. I flick the power switch off and then on again, press the power button, it will not turn on.
  4. Plug the Robit back into the wall, green breathing light turns solid after less than five minutes, indicating full charge. It turns on and operates for about 3 minutes before the issue reoccurs.
  5. I can also plug the charging cord into the vacuum for a split second, it turns on and operates for about 45 seconds before the issue reoccurs.
  6. It is not hot in my home, the shell/underside of the vacuum is not hot to the touch after operating.

My trouble shooting steps:

  1. Tested front bumper for obstructions
  2. Wiped all sensors with a dry paper towel, cleaned all moving wheels/sweepers of hair and other debris.
  3. Emptied dust collector and thoroughly cleaned the three filters, properly reassembled according to the instruction booklet diagrams
  4. Opened the battery compartment to see if there was any kind of visible defect with the battery.

I don't know the first thing about appliance repair, but I'm willing to learn! Here are some pictures of the vacuum.

@helpaaaa the great description given by you, lead me to believe it is a power issue vs a sensor issue. This could be an issue with the battery controller. I recognize it is only about a year old, but I would still change the battery first. If nothing else, it will give a known-well starting point for further troubleshooting.

Thank you so much! I'll try it.

@helpaaaa Li-Ion batteries are not as bad as we think they are. They are actually pretty safe, so no worries about that.

I have not! I'm trying to figure out if theres some more things I can do before I do that as lithium batteries really freak me out, but I'm worried that might be my only option.

@helpaaaa lithium-ion batteries have a low chance of catching fire if you just discharge the battery until it’s dead then replace

da

@mushroomcuber26 I'm a little nervous because the battery must be defective. It's fully charged and won't allow me to discharge it because the vacuum shuts off! If it was a normal battery I'd be less worried about a dangerous failure

da

If it keeps dieing then when it dies don’t plug it back in and then replace the battery

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07RZJ7... This is the one I bought, I think it might be the wrong mAh for my unit, but I've been using it for a full year and it still works!
