Replaced a battery pack back with this exact failure

Two in a row for me! Replaced a battery pack back in Mar with this exact failure mode, iFixit provided a replacement which failed the same way a couple of days ago. Kudos to iFixit for their quick turn around, but replacing a Macbook Pro battery is a bit of a hassle.

My guess is that the uC is the issue. Once I get the battery out, will try to see if I can do some post mortem. If anyone has any thoughts on what might cause this to happen, please share. Love to keep this new battery for a long, long time.

Hi @ulfjoh1523

My condolences, I understand it can be a pain to swap out a battery on these MacBooks, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Firstly, what conditions are you storing this laptop in?

True. Well, my Mac is indoors, not exposed to anything that could pose a problem to the battery pack.

uC are kind of low-tech and these batteries come from the same production line as the batteries Apple provide. Could potentially have failed Apple's QC, but my first guess would be that this is firmware/communication related. The battery management you get with an Apple battery is not available with an iFixit, so you wonder about e.g failure scenarios that would be recoverable with an Apple battery?!
