How do I replace the battery in the JAWBONE original JAMBOX?

The JAWBONE Jambox Original is a great bluetooth speaker. I think mine even has a remote. I'd love to continue using it but have no idea how to replace the battery. Has anyone done this before?

Sadly the speakers design is like a can of peas! Once you open the sheet metal outer shell it is very difficult to get it back on. Basically, its not designed to be repaired ;-{

You need to take the rubber bottom off to bend up the metal cover. Its been awhile since I did mine cutting up my fingers in the process.

Give these vids a view:

The bigger and even the smaller one is more serviceable!

I think that was one of Jawbones down fall.

Oh man, that doesn't look like much fun. Is it true that the battery somehow doubles as a speaker, as said in one of the comments on the first video?

@kiezpro - The battery is not a speaker! But there is a bit of physics involved here. Let’s think this through…

I have two tin cans (soup) punch a small hole to pass a string thru the bottom, stretching the string between the cans a person talking into one can will be heard thru the second can! This is a sound conduit which is not a speaker just a means to move the sound. An old phonograph with a cone is the exact same thing.

So… the mass of the battery can impact the lower frequency sound waves. I’ve not made a study of this so I maybe all wet here. But it does have merit.
