I have the Satellite L505-ES5018 and system freezes up at boot screen?

My satellite L505 ES018 powers up and freezes at boot screen, F2, F12, F8 no bueno. System is running Win 7 home edition and I would occassknally run a Live USB linux distro on it(manjaro), not installed on a partition. I reboot the system and planned to let windows load and encountered the frozen boot screen. I have gone thru all of the diagnostics and having a hard time pinpointing the cause. Recovery USB or Linux live not recognized. Repair or retire?

Unplug the internal hard drive then try to boot to USB if it still doesn’t boot you may have a bad motherboard

okay that took about 3 seconds, I am going to call that a forest thru the tree’s moment. didn’t catch that in my over 1000 page A+ book either but that’s why I come here. The motherboard has officially left the building and gone. Multimeter reading on the orange circle contact things(technical term) on the motherboard aren’t catching a thing. Given this is my un official training laptop I am going to drop in another motherboard for a couple dollar and go from there. best thing about owning something is breaking it and fixing it. wait repairing it once the system fails. really appreciate the advice! thx
