No Service or Very weak service when Idle

I've an unlocked iPhone 3G with GSM connection. My iPhone 3G sometimes gets very good signal but if I put the phone idle for sometimes (half an hour, more or less) the signal keeps loosing and finally shows "No Service". Then if i reboot it, then it gets full signal.

I've also noticed as long as I put the phone on my hand and it gets worm, there is no Signalling issue but when i left it idle, the problem occurs again.

I would try updating network settings. Go to general, settings, scroll to bottom... Reset network settings.

It the second part of your question is an edit then..you may need to change/check your dock connector.Heat causes expansion so whatever is the cause of your problem is a little "shortness" of placement..could be the antenna on the dock, the gold spring in the dock, the gold prong onto the bezel, connector 4. Open the phone using the links under the photo of the phone on the right. You'll see how the dock/antenna should look..compare this to what you've got and see what you need to fix.

thanks for ur response. i'll do it, but i think it will not work coz i've recently changed the "power+volume+head phone jack" ribbon. pls dont think signalling issue is my fault due to changing of the ribbon. Coz signalling issue is older than ribbon issue and if its the problem like u said then it might be fixed. coz i've attached all ribbons and connectors carefully.

never said it had anything to do with you...the antenna is all contained in the bottom 1/3 of the phone, that's where you need to be troubleshooting. It can be damaged in a drop/fall/bump whatever...
