Hi Erin,

I've just signed up and asked a question of my own so probably should give advice in return.

To answer your question yes there is but like all repairs it depends on the cable and your skill level.

I've repaired many, you have to expose the solder pads inside the connecter case/housing and solder the wires back on.

If it's the rubberised type cut it open along the seam, there might be glue similar to the glue gun type, heat it with a lighter for about three seconds then quickly scrape away the bulk of it, then carefully pick it off…take your time.

If the wire insulation is still attached make a note of there colour and where they go, if not get online and find a wiring diagram.

Desolder the pads and remove broken wire, cut the cable and strip the main insulation then the individual wire insulation…have a think how much to take off so it all fits back in neatly.

Tin the individual wires, use a fine soldering tip, solder wires to the correct solder pads, then super glue it all back together, you could also put heat shrink over it as a final step.

If the case is hard plastic just try to figure out how to get into it.

The tiny connecter pins sometimes just fall apart, I'd just buy a new cable if that happens unless your good at microsurgery.

When I repair USB cables I test them on a device I wouldn't be too upset if I messed up, I also test before super gluing back together.

I hope I've helped you.
