water damaged phone does nothing when plugged in

I have an I phone 6 s plus that got water damaged I had the phone get completely dry by just leaving it in a drawer for a year and after that time I decided to charge it and it turned on but after a day I kept getting this apple to restore message instead of booting up not too long after the screen stopped and went black so I took it to a repair store and they said that is was unfixable unless a pay them a lot of money for them to put a new logic board in it but the sounds and other things still would work just no screen any way after the next day the everything else stopped working and now it does nothing but gets hot when I plug it in how can fix this.

You first need to acquire another known good screen and battery. If the phone is still making sounds but is getting hot it is most likely a faulty component on the backlight circuit but I would check PP_VCC_MAIN line first as it also could be faulty depending if there is a full short or partial short.

You will need to diode the FPC LCD connector and compare the readings with board view software or another known good board. Once you have found the faulty line you can track down the faulty component with a thermal can, freeze spray or alcohol.

As this phone has been water damaged I would make sure I have a replacement battery and screen before doing the repair. The tools for this repair:

·         Hot air station.

·         Soldering station.

·         Multimeter with needle probes.

·         Flux and solder.

·         Microscope.

·         Tweezers

·         Spare components (Filters, diodes, capacitors, driver IC’s and possibly a FPC connector)

It should be a fairly easy repair if you have the above and some microsoldering experience.
