Right JoyCon buttons not working at all

This same thing is happening to me but it is in fact my LEFT joy con, and it’s so frustrating to not find any answers. No buttons work except for the joystick itself. I’ve also left it docked for days, everything is updated, and no the buttons are not stuck and need to be cleaned with a %#*@ toothbrush. I’m just left wondering if I need to buy some more joy cons.

Can confirm, I had the same issue. Tried percussive mantaince, not proud of it, but it worked

I put the controller in a bag and smacked it into the wall. It works now. I'd suggest wrapping the joystick so you don't break it.

It’s been a while since this question but in case any other people recently get the same problem here’s what I did to fix it:

1. Go to system settings
2. Go to “system” and make sure everything has the latest updates.
3. Go to “Controllers and sensors” and press “update controllers”
4. After it’s done reset the non responding controller by pressing the SYNC button once and then pressing another button to turn it on.

After this it should be working and if not try to check if maybe the controllers feel sticky or stuck when pressing them, you might have to clean them. If none of that works it’s probably best to get a new one.

I had the same problem today, did all the updates and restarts still had the problem, smacked it against my hand 3 times after searching for a solution and it worked… was also my right side buttons not inputting, joystick worked fine for a little till it needed smacked again

I am having the same issue. Right controller, analog stick works, but no buttons at all are registering. I read through this forum and decided trying to bang it against my hand a few times as a last ditch effort and it actually worked. I am shocked and also thankful that I found this thread!

I literally have the same problem right now. I panicked last night, non of the right buttons work except the joystick. I’ve updated my joycons, my whole Nintendo, but they still don’t work. Someone said on a different website to leave it be for a while or couple of days so I’m gonna wait. It’s crazy that we all have the same problem and it’s the RIGHT joy con as well. I’m wondering what causes it:/ you both made me less worried, I’ve been looking for answers and solutions everywhere and I couldn’t find anything

Same thing you described! Only the joystick of the right controller is working! I let it sit for a day in the dock, I updated everything in the system settings, and it still isn’t working. I will pass on throwing it against the wall for now. Maybe I’ll try docking it for another few days?

I was having a similar issue but my fix was to constantly have the right joycon connected to a power source

Re seat ribbons hope works, left joy on wasn’t working took it apart re sat ribbons worked except for broken button so far did it again this morning cause only stick was working, but now buttons do too had issue with both let the charge to full then unscrewed an re seated the ribbons seems to be working now

Tried the smash solution. Worked perfectly! My buttons started to respond again after punching my thigh with the joycon. It's just like the good old TV slapping days.

I just hit that thing on my thigh a bunch of times and it works! amazing🤣

It's a lose cord inside of it. I've unscrewed it and screwed it back on and it worked and that was after I've completely took apart my joycons to replace the shell. So my guess is it's a lose cord
