Does No SIM equal No Service?
I just replaced a display on iphone 4. But the SIM isn't currently registerd. I'm getting a "No Service" on boot. Is that probably connected to the SIM not being active or a mistake on my part. ( I also didn't put the contact clip back in; is that needed? it looks like according to the descriptions it simply helps hold the GSM antenna on the Logic Board. I hope it isn't needed because I think the first few threads of the screw mount are striped and I can't seem t get a screw to go in an hold the clip. I've read about a soldiering something in this regards but haven't seen a good photo or description.) Thanks.
Questa è una buona domanda?

Contact clip? the one near the battery connector? Can you post a picture of this clip? If you say it holds the GSM antenna to the logic board then it definitely could be the problem.

Picture of Contact clip; also held in by the same screw as the battery connector.

Yes, the contact clip next to the battery. The screw that holds the battery connector in place also holds this metal clip in place; but pressure from the back panel is what really gives it its tension. It apparently helps hold the antenna lead on the board right below it; But in reality I think its redundant because the antenna connector actually snaps in place on the motherboard. Now I have read on some ifixit pages that you should clean/degrease the clip before putting it back in because this can affect signal. I'm assuming because its a metal clip and the end of the Antenna lead connector is a solid metal connector so it could antinuate or mess up the signal. But I could be wrong.
I'm really wondering if a Un-Activated SIM would give me a No Service response? or I need to look at what I did again in hardware. Thanks.

Do any of you think it could be the blue inductor that some talk about being near the antenna mount near the battery. See post.
