After upgrades still runs like crap

Upgraded the hard drives upgraded the RAM replaced the logic board after I spark it putting in a new battery like a jerk, still runs slower than molasses ran clean my Mac X & still is giving me issues. Only runs great in safe mode but I Don’t have access to certain functions.

and it’s worth noting that it took three years for the logic board to become available in that time I only ran the computer on safe mode so when I replace the logic board I wiped the hard drive to start with a clean version of High Sierra but it was a nightmare trying to load it from the Mac mothership. Anybody have any suggestions? Oh yeah and the cursor just stopped working I have to use an external mouse

Well I would first run the onboard diagnostics to see if any errors popped. Restart the system and press the D key. Let us know what you get for errors.

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

Ok will do - any Ideas as to my the cursor suddenly stopped working? I replace the trackpad and it’s still not working should I replace the trackpad cable?

da

@dacnjnc - Once you get the diagnostics output it should give us some ideas which way to go.

Ok, running diagnostic now

Also a HDD won't be as snappier as an SSD but that's another topic.

Dan is on the right path for you to run the AHT (Apple Hardware Test) now called Apple Diagnostics to check for error codes BEFORE the OS is started. Seems like there's still an issue after you replaced the board.

Bingo! We now know you have a thermal sensor issue within the Trackpad has a problem. That explains your systems sluggishness! SMC is in Safe Mode lowering the CPU’s clocking and ramping up the fan speed.

From the Apple service guide:

The error is a thermal sensor error for missing or abnormal reading for Trackpad/Palmrest (Ts0P) sensor

The trackpad device may have an open connection or damaged device. Reseat flex cable while inspecting for cable or connector damage (on both logic board and trackpad flex cable.

I already replace the track pad but not the flex cable - my friend has the same MacBook but it died (my next project) so could it just be the flex cable?

da

@dacnjnc - The sensor is on the cable! But I would replace both together as the cable can get damaged putting it in (over flexing it breaking the solder joints)

You guys are the best, I let you know how it goes
