Second SSD drive in HP Slate 500
Hi,
I have an HP Slate 500, recently I replace the touch screen because it was broken. When I opened the slate I saw for your information the nex things:
1. HP Slate 500 uses an Mo-297 SATA drive. This has a normal SATA conector but is only 40 mm. The factory instalated 64GB SSD drive is very slow, data rates I found was average Seq read: 13MB/s, Seq Write: 9 MB/s. This is an essential upgrade.
2. The motherboard has one miniPCI-e slot filled with the wifi+BT. This card es a half zise miniPCI-e (50mm instead 70mm). Replace this with an miniPCI-e (50 mm) SSD is another way to increase storage, or add a second SSD drive to use as RAID. WiFi and BT can be added through the USB port.
3. Most interesting: The motherboard has a second miniPCI-e conector printed, but HP does not put the socket. Moreover, there is enough room to place a second miniPCI-e card of 70 mm lenght if the socket is soldered to the motherboard. I Think this second slot was designed to the WWLan/GPS model never released. This would accept a second socket/miniPCI-e SSD drive? ...or WLan/GPS module?...someone like to try it?
Questa è una buona domanda?
