CPU 300% & 100% Exhaust Fan after light water spill on keyboard

A small amount of water was spilled on the keyboard/trackpad. It did pool briefly until it was wiped off.

Since then, the cpu is around 270% and exhaust is 100%.

Running diagnostics, I get the following codes:

Reference Code: PFM006 & PPN001

I bought the screw driver set and removed the bottom cover, everything looks really clean. I tore it down completely and I don’t see any corrosion or water damage.

Focus on the logic board following this guide: Sostituzione scheda madre MacBook Air 13" metà 2013. I’m sure you’ll find corrosion staining on the other side. Post a clear image of any areas you think need attention Aggiungere immagini ad una domanda

Thanks, I tore it down and uploaded some pictures, I don't see anything obvious but I'm not sure where I'm looking for temp sensor or whatever is causing it to think it is overheating.

Well the good news I don't see any staining on the logic board around the SMC which is what I had feared.

That pushes to the trackpad as the likely area. While not clear in your pics I do see salting on the solder joints and staining. So you'll need to replace it at this point MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad and here's the guide Sostituzione trackpad MacBook Air 13" metà 2013. If the cable has staining you'll need to replace it as well MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad Cable

I never got notified you responded.

Is it something I can try cleaning connectors first? The circuitry I can see looks really clean.

Do you know what part of the trackpad is the circuitry for the sensor?

da

@billybobtimmy - Cleaning is always iffy on a trackpad. Replacing is the better direction. There was enough staining that you would have needed to desolder components to get under them to clean.

It all comes down to skills, time and costs!

I just took out the trackpad and will order a replacement, but I am confused, it looks spotless. It is where the water was pooling for a brief second, but I see no signs of water, corrosion or damage. It looks brand new.

Is the thermal sensor on the trackpad board? Seems an odd component to control that but I have seen other posts list the same thing as the source of the problem.

Thanks for your help by the way.
