SSD Corruption requiring reinstall of from a backup.

I have a 2011 mac mini with an Kingston SV100S264G SSD (64GB). Every few weeks the drive becomes un bootable requiring a restore from a time machine backup. I'm not sure why this occurs as the SSD is just the boot drive and isn't primary storage. It didn't occur in the 2010 model. I don't mind doing the restore as it takes only about 20 minutes, but it's rather annoying. I've enabled trim on this drive to see if that would help. My question is simply: has anyone had a similar problem and if so do you know what causes it? Is there a solution to preventing the drive from becoming corrupt?

The firmware is up to date. I'm considering RMAing the drive and getting a replacement.

Soluzione Prescelta

It's been RMA'd today. I also ordered a Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC. The intervals between total data loss where becoming shorter, so I suspect that it was the drive.

Update

I have not had any problems with the Crucial SSD. The Kingston drive ran quite a bit hotter.

If your firmware is up-to-date, then this should not be happening. If the SSD is still under warranty, I would return it. Kingston is a reputable vendor, but I would Opt for a different company when it comes to SSDs. Try OCZ/Crucial.
