What to do with playstation 3 that has the ylod

I have a playstation 3 60 gig, mode number cecha01, that has the ylod. My first thought was a dusty system, but after dusting off the hardware, that didn’t solve the problem.

My next move was to have the motherboard out for a ylod repair, but in the process, the fan connector broke off of the motherboard. It’s unknown if a ylod repair would have worked for me.

My question is can I get another replacement motherboard for my ps3 or would it be easier to just get another 60 gig playstation 3 console? My motherboard number is 1-871-868-22 Cok-001.

boonejustin007  that is a big depends. Depends on how much you want to spend and where you may get a motherboard from. Remember that you may just buy someone else’s problems. You won’t know how good the board is and if it will pop up with a YLOD as well. Same goes with a replacement console. Those are tough decisions where you have to weigh the options and make sure you only buy a motherboard from a reputable source. Not easy to find

I think that it would be cheaper and easier to get another playstation 3 model vs getting a replacement motherboard. I hate to have to rebuild everything, but that’s life.

What is strange is that my playstation 3 died monday of this week. What happened is that I backup game saves every monday night. I did this and then I played sniper elite v2 for a bit and the system shut off with a ylod to show for me. Maybe a sign?

Hi! When it's beyond repair and I need a new motherboard, I always contact: https://www.gamersrepair.com/ the motherboards they deliver are golden. PS3 is not listed there, so you should contact them directly (most of the time, they do have something in stock).

I went on ahead and got an 80 gig playstation 3 off of ebay. I'll probably have to get another one in about 6 or 7 more years, but what can I do, that's life.
