What are the chances there is LCD damage?

I am going to replace an iPad Mini 2 screen that has a lot of cracks. The cracks have been causing false touches on the screen (random apps opening, etc)

What are the chances of, once I put the new screen on, there still being false touches due to LCD damage? I don’t think this is very likely if I clean all the broken glass from the old screen, but I just want to make sure.

There a few things to take into account in your question. As long as the device didn’t suffer a rough impact which would result in board damage, a new screen should fix the ghosting issue. Ghosting is the term we use to describe false touching and inputs like the device typing or swiping when you’re not touching it. Second is the LCD and digitizer/glass parts are totally separate on this model. So if you do by chance damage the LCD, it would lead to discoloration, lines, black spots, or no image at all but touch should work just fine. Lastly is where you source the part from. Avoid eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, Wish, AliExpress, or other websites like those when it comes to parts. They have no quality control on what is sold. If you need the tools, ifixit sells a complete kit you can buy and it comes with a warranty so in case you do get a defective part, you’re covered. Good luck!

Pro tip: use acetone to clean the old adhesive off of the frame once you get the old screen off. It will ensure your screen stays adhered.
