Can I put a cellular motherboard into a wifi frame?

Hello everybody!

So I recently had an unfortunate accident with my iPad. Left it on the couch, somebody sat on it and it now has a nasty bend, cracked LCD and badly cracked digitizer.

I have an iCloud locked iPad Air, but it’s the WiFi model. The damaged one is a cellular model. I’m wondering if I could swap the cellular board into the WiFi frame and have it still work? I know it won’t have cellular functions, but it’s only used for Netflix and web browsing. Thanks!

Yes, you can! The board layout is a bit different, but it’s doable. I’m typing this on it right now. Obviously the iPad will never have cell functions again but works great as a WiFi device.

If it fits I would try it. As long as the WiFi iPad is the exact same model with the only difference possibly being the cellular function and the storage.

Yeah, I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work I'll take them out to the range and they'll be used as target practice lol. I would like to fix it however I could buy a new one for the cost of the parts.

I hope it goes well! At least it will be useful for something though lol.

Yeah hahaha. I'll answer the question with how it goes a bit later when I try it.
