Why is my screen intermittently flickering with horizontal lines?

TV screen has apparently normal display, interrupted every few seconds by horizontal lines https://youtu.be/CFx9Tk5bINY

Possible contributing factor is 2 year rampaging around house during lockdown, but didn’t see her do anything to the TV immediately before this started earlier today.

Have tried unplugging everything, reset to factory settings etc. Still happening so seems to be a hardware problem. No obvious damaged/loose connections inside. Any ideas on likely cause and how to proceed?

Might seem odd to be answering my own question a few hours after asking it, but just in case anyone else has the same problem I found this video of an Indonesian man fixing the same problem on an LG TV. I can’t really understand what he’s saying but the fix involves putting a small piece of selotape onto the ribbon connector to the display.


I don’t know why this works and if anyone can enlighten me I’d be interested to know, but it has fixed the problem so if your TV is doing the same give it a try.
