The computer is fine but after 2-3 hours of general web browsing and using word and similar applications for simple school work the computer shuts off, I suspect overheating as the bottom gets quite warm and after installing a small application to measure the temperature I got temperatures of over 65 Celcius.

try blowing it out with some canned air, might have to change the thermal paste on the cpu also.
