How do I fix a small patch of fur missing from my Patagonia Re-Tool?

My Patagonia re-tool I bought second hand from a website and it had a spot on the front that seemed like the fibers had been burned from a fire and a small patch (not a hole) was missing. I tried sewing it together to sinch up the fur around it, but it was still noticeable. I am wondering if I can fix it first before I send it in to Patagonia to fix for a small fee.
