Not charging, power adapter solder points damaged

I have a dsi xl that wouldnt charge, i installed a new power connector and it worked but a wk later it would charge only if the cable was in a certain position so i knew the points werent making full contact.

I resoldered the points but the pads lifted, i tried fixing it with no luck. Perhaps my iron was too hot and lifted the pads. Anyways i am no electronics expert but i was trying to find the via points, i found the ground easily and i think i found the power point which is connected to the resistor. I soldered 2 wires to the 2 points on the AC plug and plugged it in but no charge light. So i think i may not have found the power via. Either that or i damaged the resistor, i cant be sure.

I would hate to buy a new mobo. I know it can be fixed, but my skills are not in electronics.

Your iron was definitely too hot, or you were leaving heat applied for too long. Be careful when arbitrarily shorting points on the board, putting power on the wrong electrical node could fry more than just a resistor (I've smoked 50 microchips in an aircraft warning system with 1 wrong pin connection before).

if you have a microscope, you can solder a 32ish AWG wire from the charge port or whatever to the broken trace. just scrape the coating from the broken trace with an exacto knife. again, not easy without a scope, but pretty much the only way to repair a damaged pcb trace.

They also have pcb repair kits (for through-hole stuff at least) but I couldn't tell you if there's one for the surface-mount stuff in more modern electronics.

I've used pads from other boards and soldered them to the pad of the damaged board bridging broken traces to lifted pads before, but its not easy and I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you're extremely confident in your soldering abilities AND have the proper tools for the job.

What repair kits were you looking at? I'm sure they have copper trace pieces in multiple sizes for very low prices somewhere. If you're having trouble finding them, I could take a look for you?

The ones I used at my old job were plastic fold-open containers with brackets of multiple circular pads, linear traces, and 90/45 degree elbow traces in multiple sizes that one would break a piece off as necessary.

Hi, ¿finally you could repair your DS?

I have the same problem.

I managed to connect the power connector to the pad, and it has continuity to the fuse but I dont find the reason why the orange light doesn't turn on. It doesn't even blink.

Thanks
