Where is the temperature sensor on the ps4 located? (Low Fan Speed)

Hi, the fan on my ps4 does not accelerate when I run a game. Causing the ps4 to overheat after a while.

I tried replacing the thermal paste but that did nothing. The spins perfectly, and when I turn on the ps4 it runs very fast but slows down and doesn’t speed up from then. I know this is because the ps4 starts with the 12v battery.

All these have lead me to believe the Heat sensor is the issue. I was wondering if anyone knew where exactly it was located. Thanks!

Hi so my ps4 had same prob fan never changed speeds and it just turned off with no overheat message or beeps meaning the sensors were not working so what i did was add a switch on the fan that boosted the fan speed to 70-80% now its a bit noisy but atleast it never overheats u can check this video on how to add the switch https://youtu.be/wQ-1qsEv6O8

my ps4 is telling me its too hot and turns off but it wasn’t on at all the whole night

I had my Playstation for 2 years now my niece and nephew in law said they knew how to clean my Playstation 4. They cleaned my Playstation 4 with a vacuum hose and cleaned my system with cute tips and and rubbing alcohol and it's been over heating every time I am on it only for minutes and they never took it apart to clean the fans or anything and I called my oldest son and he told me to use a thermometer for my ps4 and when I took it thermometer tempature it literally was reading HI what does that mean it's over heating

da

yea we just changed and cleaned or PS4 and every time it still says the PS4 is to hot and IDK what to do pls help

I have the issue where the fan would just speed up and make a lot of noise even without being too hot, at all. Just in general, which was annoying, but I figured that if the fan is that active, then it really shouldn't overheat, right. I was testing recently and turned out that I was on for 10 minutes and my PS4 gave me overheat message followed by turning off.

I have opened it and tried to remove all dust, did some work. However, I do really suspect the heat sensor is just really off. So I was also wondering where to look for that part?

I believe that the heat sensor is placed in the CPU/GPU like PCs, so you cannot change it or replace it, but what makes you think that there is a problem in the first place, does your games lag or something ?

OH thats unfortunate. Every time I run a game it overheats and shuts down in about 5-10 mins but works fine in the menu. I don't hear the fan speeding up when I start games.

If your fan works perfectly in full speed and low speed then it must be a software issue, download the latest update and reset to factory settings.

da

@vertinhol I just did that but it seems its still overheating

da

Run your fan with an external battery and try to play a game that consumes all PS4 resources.

Hi could you help me with that I know i'll have to splice the 3 pins but what do I do after what kind of external battery and how would I connect the pins? I'm not really great at these things

may be a dumb question since you went through the trouble of putting new thermal paste, but did you make sure there was no dust clogging up the heat sink underneath, as well as that the fan spins freely?

mostly the fan, if the bearing is just a little bad it will still spin as per usual but won’t be able to spin as effectively and cause overheating issues

There wasnt that much dust. But I blew out the little that was there. The fans spin freely as well.

da

Alright I'll try to get a new fan an see the effect

da

The fan turns freely because you said it spins fast when you start your PS4.

da

thats true yes

da

Would the fan have any resistance at all? I mean it should be fairly easy to spin but the fan motor technically would give some resisitance. Any way the speed of the fan become an issue?
