iPhone 6 Searching issue

Hello all.

I started having a gps issue a couple of weeks ago and ordered an antenna flex cable to correct it. While waiting for cable to arrive, service issue came up. Couldn’t connect to my cell network. I tried resetting network settings, ejecting SIM card, restarting phone, hard reset on phone.

Got the cable, replaced it, restarted phone a couple of times, and service was back, GPS came back. Problem solved. That was 2 days ago.

Yesterday, left the house, got the Searching again. Restarted the phone, got my cell network back.

Today, got searching again. Restarted the phone. Still searching. Went through everything again. Reset network settings. Pulled and put SIM back in. Restarted phone. Hard restart.

Any thoughts?

Soluzione Prescelta

After you have eliminated antennae or network locks as the possible culprit, searching issues on the iPhone 6 are usually related to the baseband IC. The baseband IC is very sensitive, just like the Touch IC's on the 6 Plus; it also suffers from poor quality traces and pads.

Go to your phone’s dialing keypad and dial *#06#. You should see the IMEI displayed.

If the IMEI is not displayed, the Baseband IC has to be reballed and two small copper traces (U1/V1) have to be rebuilt and solidified. This is commonly referred to as the “long jumper” solution. You can check out this answer (Service is "Searching" indefinitely) (by @teetopp) as it summarizes the issue really well.

When I dial #06# and press the dial button, it tells me error performing request. Unknown error.

Is this the indication that the Baseband IC has to be reballed as you indicated above?

You don't have to press the dial button, once you enter in the last "digit" (in this case: #) it will automatically display the IMEI. Try again without hitting the dial button. If you don't see the IMEI, then you have a baseband IC issue.
