iPhone Display connector broken, fix with soldering iron only?

Hello there,

i have an iPhone 6 with 16 GB of Storage, the display slightly lights up, but doesnt show anything, if i swap the motherboard, the LCD shows everything, so i took a closer look and notices, that the connector is broken, it shows nothing, i have googled that problem and people fix it with high tech and stuff, my question: can i fix this with just a soldering iron and some tools, im not rich, i just dont wanna pay 100 € for a new motherboard, i wanna pay 5€ for the connectors and then install them and thats it.

Do i need some high tech for an LCD Connector Repair?

Realistically, you can’t solder a replacement FPC connector with just a “regular” soldering iron. The tips are usually just too large, the pin pitch of the connector too small and the density of components in the connector area is too high. Once you bring your hot iron near the connector, you will either melt the other connectors or lift the surrounding components.

The other problem is that the connector itself has very short legs and hardly protrude out from the side of the connector, leaving you very little material to work with. Ideally you need a hot air station and a very fine point s, temperature controlled soldering iron.

So for anyone who says they can, there are a thousand people who can’t :>). You could look at having this repaired by a micro-solderer, it would probably be less expensive than a replacement board.
