After oreo update, front camera fails, help?

I recently updated to Oreo from Nougat and since then whenever I open the selfie camera I get the warning message “camera has failed”. It worked perfectly fine in nougat. I have done cleared date and cache of camera, turned smart stay off, wiped cache partition. Done a factory reset and I still get the message. Sometimes it decides to work and the quality is fine, and then a few minutes later it will say camera has failed again. Any suggestions?
