Apple Pay not working after new screen replacement.

I replaced the screen on two different Apple watches and Apple Pay will not work on either after doing so. Anyone know how to fix? Tried deleting my cards and reading them but no luck.

Ifixit has a note/disclaimer that states replacing the screen disables the NFC antenna. Mine will not load wallet onto watch as well. Looking at a video where they pried off the old NFC assembly and reinstalled it on the new screen to fix this issue. I think this is what Ifixit means by “no easy fix”….but is fixable but would void new screen warranty. Haven’t tried it, as this issue was not a deal breaker for me.

Not sure where it says this? I looked on the page for the screen and the replacement guide for the SE.

@cto987 - This guide expresses it, I've added the missing text in the others.

"Replacing the display can cause issues with Apple Pay. If possible, to reduce the likelihood of problems, delete all your Apple Pay account info before the replacement, and then re-enter it with the new display installed."

Just wondering if this is always the case? I got my apple watch 4 screen fixed but lost the apple pay. it’s really a pain in the ass.

I haven’t fixed any since series 3, but if done properly you can still use Apple Pay. This requires you to remove and transfer the NFC chip from the broken screen to the new screen and secure it with magnetic ink and super glue. I used an Xacto knife for removal. Unfortunately if you brought it somewhere and they did not transfer the NFC and discarded the broken screen.. you may not be able to get Apple Pay to work again. Unless it was Apple who fixed it? If that’s the case then I’d go to the Apple store or start a chat with them online.

Good night. So if you remove the nfc from the broken screen and “paste” in the new one , should work again the apple pay? In ifixit there is a guide installing nfc from apple watch 2 and it is look not very complicated...

Can you give us an update? I have the same problem with all my watches from series 3 to series 4. I've saved some old displays, but I'm not able to transfer the nfc either..

If you bought one online after market it is a chance an nfc module was not installed. Seen this a lot. You would have to desolder your original and place on new

Yep! You need to transfer the NFC unit over from your old display to your new one.
