Backlight out, Samsung led tv UN46EH5000FXZA

The backlight on my Samsung MODEL: UN46EH50000FXZA LED tv stopped working.

I still have sound, and can see an image when I shine a flashlight on the screen.

One of the common failures is of the LED strips inside the TV which provide the back light. It can be a single LED that fails since they are connected in series. i have successfully changed the individual LEDs to repair these recently. If you have a volt meter, check the voltages present on the connector that goes to the panel. There should be both a thin flat cable that carries the video signal and a thicker cable that should carry the LED power. Next to the LED connector there should be markings indicating the pins like L1+,L1- etc. There may be 2 or 4 sets of these labels. Check the voltages at that connector and report back here with the results. Depending upon what you report, we'll move on from there.

There are 9 connections on the connector labeled as follows:

1: D1+ (no wire)

2: D1+ (220V)

3: S1- (176V)

4: S2+ (175V)

5: NC (no wire)

6: S2- (0V)

7: S3+ (0V)

8: D1- (0V)

9: D1- (no wire)

This one looks like all the LEDs are connected in series which means that if one fails, there will be no back light. Measure the voltage between S1and S2 which should read 361V. A word of CAUTION as this is high voltage that can cause injury. If it reads as expected, I suspect a faulty LED that will need to be replaced. I have included one example listing for replacement strips below.

Replaced the LED backlights and the TV is working again.

@abrsvc I have a similar issue with a Samsung UN60J620DAF that was flashing the picture on and off on it's own, but sound remained. I ordered and installed a new LVDS and TCON board that match the serial numbers from the original parts. I installed TCON board and new LVDS, picture is back, but now the picture is blinking rapidly, slightly lighter and darker. Turned off ECO mode, reset TV, turned off, turned back on, updated software, checked TV source, HDMI source, and still rapidly blinking from lighter to darker picture. I ran picture tests but it's blinking during the tests. Someone suggested it may be faulty backlight strips, but I haven't looked at those yet. I also tried the original LVDS with the new TCON but the results were the same. I've also tried different power outlets with power strip. Any help is appreciated!
