iPhone 6 processor destroyed due to swollen battry

Dear colleagues,

I hope all of you are very well and thanks for this amazing webinar .

My enquiry is: battery of my iPhone 6 had been swollen and I took my iphone to put a new battery, they told me that iPhone processor had been destroyed and therefore you have to change this processor as well and you cannot restore your contacts and photos. Unfortunately I didn’t backup my iphone.

Can you please help me if there is a way to get back my contacts and photos.

Thanks in advance for your help and support

Best regards

Jon

Who told you you had to replace the processor?

First of all, that's not possible. Well, technically you can replace a processor but they are all code-locked to the rest of the logic board so practically speaking you can't.

Second, a swollen battery doesn't necessarily mean you have logic board damage. It's probably just a bad battery and any board damage would be unrelated to the battery but perhaps related to a faulty charger. If data is important to you, then consider bringing your phone to an experienced micro-solderer...it's not that expensive relatively speaking.

Hi, did you try to replace the battery yourself and make sure that they weren't just telling you that so that you'd have to purchase a new phone / logic board. First of all, I would try replacing the battery and just making sure that they were not trying to con you whoever 'they' are. Second of all, if you have an iCloud account it should automatically back up your content to the cloud (if I'm not mistaken). Just sign into your new phone with the same iCloud details and it should work. If it does not, the only thing I could think of is that if your contacts are really THAT important, find someone who does board repairs and ask them to swap over your memory chips so that your old one with all your data will be re-balled and re-soldered onto your new iPhone logic board (I'm assuming that this must be done with the same model you previously had). You'd be talking a fair bit of money as board repairs are fairly costly. Hope this helps.
