How to unlock screen on BLU smartphone?

Hi, I've recently purchased a phone with a locked screen, a pin code. The guy who sold it won't contact me any more and I don't know the password. I've also heard that factory resetting brings up the possibility of getting locked out by the protection software. Help please.
