Desoldering the HDMI Port?

Ok so I asked about this earlier, but I think I didn't focus on the main problem enough

So basically awhile back i broke my hdmi port on my ps4, my dad and I have completely put apart the console and now just have the motherboard.

We have a replacement port ready and we began to desolder the port.

My dad has a soldering tool and when he had it heated up the solder did not budge.

We aren't sure why this is happening, the hdmi port solder does not liquify at all, it seems like the soldering tool does not do anything to the solder, I need some more understanding if we need a heating gun or a better soldering tool, because we both have no idea why the solder wont heat up and liquify.

Thanks.

the solder on the port is more than likely lead free solder which takes a higher temp to melt than leaded solder. you will need a hot air station that can reach at least 450c go over the old solder with leaded solder and then heat it with the hot air until the solder melts and remove the port. you will probably spend more on tools than sending it for repair

Send for repair? That hot air station is going to look good with my soldering iron, iFixit kit, and stack of laptops. Maybe Frankenstein a couple of them together after I up my soldering skills a bit

yes you can have a tool for that and other jobs for round 50 euros at https://www.facebook.com/www.informedia.... just messge and tel you need a basic hot air station you will need to add flux an try to melt some leaded solder that will help melt the lead free solder

I have a hot air station and it still does not liquefy the soldier. I have also tried a soldiering gun at 500°

Go from the bottom of the port at 415°c to 500°c about 1 inch away from the 4 pins holding down the port for about 45 to 50 seconds with an air flow of 3 to 4. The port should fall right out no problem. If you want you can do it from the top side (I don't recommend it) just be careful of the fuses that sit by the port. Also use micro soldering tweezers to test the port to see if it is loose or not do not tank or pull on the port with the tweezers just slight lift on it if it doesn't budge keep heating it should come off with ease there should be no reason to have to yank or pull of done correctly because this may cause you to pull traces out with the port from the 19 pins the port connects too which will cause you more problems and you will need a professional to redo the traces. Hope this helps. I will be doing a video on youtube about this with all the temps and tools I use. Im not a professional but I've done this job before and have cheap tools that work for the job. You can find them on Amazon.

Well if you hold it there for 3 to 4 seconds longer and turn up the thermostat on your heating tool it should liquify
