Can displays survive water damage?

I have a display that has experienced water damage and the phone is no longer working. I was wondering if the display could be reused in a new phone or if the displays usually die. I will be replacing the front facing camera assembly and headset speaker with new parts. Is it likely the display itself will still work after the damage?

Sometimes screens can survive if they don't get shorted but often water gets trapped between the screen layers. Screen might get stained forever or not, depending how pure was the water it fell into. It's very much a matter of luck..I've seen screens get back to almost perfect condition or with minor faults in a few weeks time.

@kandles11 Possible that it will but also possible that it will not. If it has not yet failed, it might be tomorrow. The point I am trying to make is that you just never know with water damage. You can try and use it but do not be surprised or disappointed if it does not work. Keep a new one at hand in case this one will fail.
