Won't power up after replacing battery; worked until battery died

I just installed a new battery using the ifixit battery replacement kit. Everything went smoothly and the computer powered up and operated, on battery power and on AC power, with no issues. I was so proud of myself. I then let the battery drain completely until the MacBook died per the ifixit guide instructions. Now, it won't power on with or without the MagSafe AC adaptor plugged in. No signs of life - no fan, no beeps, no lights, no trackpad action... when the MagSafe power adaptor is plugged in the light is a solid green. I already tried a SMC reset. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

@groovmonkey - Can you download this great app: CoconutBattery. Then, take a snapshot of the main window of the app and paste it here for us to see. Aggiungere immagini ad una domanda

If you plug in the old battery, will the MacBook Pro boot? If it does, then the new battery is probably faulty. I would also suggest maybe reseating the battery cable itself?

Hi, thanks so much for your response and feedback. I tried reseating the battery cable and also the keyboard cable as I read that a loose keyboard cable could cause the power button to not function. I couldn't try the old bttery as it's faulty and hence the battery replacement. However, prior to installing this new battery, the computer operated normally on AC power with the MagSafe adaptor. Also, as I mentioned, after I initially installed the new battery, the computer initially turned on and ran perfectly on battery power and AC power. Seems strange, no? Please help!!

If you unplug the battery, will the laptop boot? It should boot without the battery but run quite slowly. If it now does not boot, there could be something wrong with the logic board. What was wrong initially that made you replace the battery?

Thanks again for your continued help here. The laptop booted up perfectly with the new battery unplugged. However, neither the touchpad nor the keyboard works (I tried powering down by pressing the power button and nothing happened). The initial issue was just simply a bad/old battery. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

@groovmonkey - Any word on getting the CoconutBattery screen capture? That will tell you a lot.

I can't turn the computer on let alone install a program...

Some times batterys can be defective and wont accept a charge, Try replaceing the battery once more and give it a shot. Also replace the Magsafe chargerport as well as the chargerport could be bad as well.

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned above I got the computer to power up without the battery plugged in (so it could be the battery as you suggest), however, both the keyboard and touchpad didn't work which makes me think it could be the power button not working to boot the computer up, no? Other thoughts appreciated!

The power button is part of the keyboard so that could definitely be a reason it doesn’t turn on
