I broke the display power cable port, fix?

Hello friends,

I accidentally broke the iMac display power cable port (the port on computer side, not the one on the display) and i also broke the display data cable ZIF connector.

Now the display power cable port is broken, in the sense of : one of the gold pins jumped off/broked, here is a picture .

as you can see, the first pin has disappeared, only 5 left.

When I start the Mac, there is sound but nothing not the screen

As I also happened to break data cable ZIF connector, I wonder if only buying a new ZIF connector will resolve my issue.

In short terms , can the iMac work without the display power cable port ?

You can use it with an external monitor, otherwise you'll need someone to solder a new connector on to the board.

Sadly, you need all of the cables like you need ALL of your wheels and tires! At this point your only hope is to use an external monitor or find someone with the needed skills and parts to fix your logic board.

hello dan, thank you for your dumb comparaison, but I asked this because I have other iMac that works without two display cables (lcd thermal sensor cable and and other one i don't remember)...

Both the thermal sensor and the vertical sync cable are still needed. Your fan will run wild as you're not allowing SMC access to the input it needs and as far as the sync cable your display will glitch when high speed motion is present.

In this case you damaged the backlight power connector so you can't see what the LCD has on it as it needs a light source behind it.

I think you'll need to work a bit harder not to damage your systems.

Is there a place where one could buy the display data cable ZIF connector? Also, how hard is it for someone with some knowledge and soldering experience to replace that part??
