E100 Code on start up and wont apply Update

Hi, I've got an issue with my Xbox One console. when I turn on the Xbox it doesn't give me the start up green screen. It goes straight to something went wrong and gives me a error E100 code. I was wondering is this a Hard Drive Issue? OR a Disk Drive issue. I really don't want to buy a new Xbox. Hope someone can tell me the issue thanks in advance.

If you are still having this issue I just fixed mine. I removed the hdd from the xbox and hooked it up to my pc. Accessed the system update 1 partition and deleted all the files and reinstalled the hdd. Then took a flash drive (any drive over 8gb will work) and formatted that to NTFS and extracted OSU1 to it and inserted it into the USB port on the xbox. Booting the xbox by holding for 15 seconds, the bind button on the side and the eject button and pressing the power button. The console then fully went through with the system update. Afterwards i just had to redo the initial setup but all my games and saves were still there. Hope this helps someone else.

How would I go about hooking up the HDD to my PC . I already removed it from my xbox?

Hi jake, you should be able to find a cheap usb dock under 20 bucks on amazon or eBay that would allow you to easily hook it up to your PC. If you don't want to do this you will have to install it in your PC as a secondary drive.

Great thank you

I have an original Xbox One and only run into this problem once a month or so.

When the troubleshoot screen appears, select “turn off Xbox.” Once it’s completely through turning off, unplug the power box from the power socket and the Xbox itself.

Wait around 10 minutes and plug the box back into the socket. I waited a minute-ish and plugged it into the Xbox.

Manually open the troubleshoot by simultaneously holding the “sync“ and “eject” buttons while also pressing the power button. Wait for the second tone, and select “reset but keep games and apps.”

This was successful for me and I hope it helps someone else!

Hello . I have a different problem my x box one s is stuck on update since 2 weeks. I have tried the ous1 and nfts methods but its stuck on 56%

If anybody could help me then please

da

if it is stuck on 56 % has bad hard drive

da

This happens if you installed a new disc drive without changing the computer board from the old into the new! The hard drive a disc drive are married to each other and it has to think they are still together

You need to make sure you have the original disk drive (they are married to the mother board) and make sure it is plugged in.

I ended up fixing my e100 issue by turning off my wifi and manually updating my USB.

What if your original disk drive was the problem and has been replaced? Also, How did you update from the USB?

IMPORTANT! READ CAREFULLY (IT'S SIMPLE) FOR THIS PROCESS YOU'LL NEED A WINDOWS (7, 8, 8.1, 10) COMPUTER CAN'T DO IT WITH MAC LINK: http://www.xbox.com/xboxone/osu1

also i recommend you to use this procedure as you last shot, since you can HARD RESET you xbox and it may fix it, if not then you go on with this process.

you can get the latest OEM update from the xbox page, just will be needing a usb flash drive as minimum 8GB and then format it as a NTFS (since that's the format the xbox is compatible with) and then you'll take the compressed OSU1.RAR file and of course decompress it, copy the $SystemUpdate folder that you will get, put it into the drive (NFTS FORMATED) root and that's it, you will have to turn off the xbox, then unplug the power cord, press the xbox power button as many times as you can that's how you will make sure is completely off. then press simultaneously the sync button, the eject button and the xbox power button at the same time, you'll hear a "bip" but keep holding it till you hear a second "bip" that's how you get to the xbox Trouble Shooting menu, then simply select the (offline update via USB) and that's it. just need to wait for it to install, you'll need to update the xbox with this procedure just by this time, next time i'll be fine.

What if i cant click the offline system update i have it on my used i followed all the steps but i cant click that square

da

@eduardo sanchez did you format the usb pen in NTFS and extract the OSU1 file and press the sync key at the same time and expel and then the power button?

With my brothers Xbox one all he did was take it apart and unplug the hard drive and plug it back in. Worked like a charm. Wouldn’t try this with the Xbox one S
