hdd password error 13129
my laptop when turned on keeps asking for hdd password.. when entered 3 times wrong i get error code 13129.. can't move past this screen.. can't do nothing

I have never had to do this but I would try and slave this on a desktop, there are inexpensive adapters that let you connect laptop drives to desktops. Run your desktop as usual and check (under Windows) with the My Computer Tab and see if your drive shows up and if you can access it. I know there is also a way to do it with a Live Linux CD but not sure how familiar you are with that. If your HDD is accessible I would copy the files ASAP and try to reformat the drive. You could also try some disk recovery software. You really have not much to lose right now, since you can't access the drive anyway.
I am honest with you and must admit that I do not hold much hope for this. The password is actually part of the HDD firmware to protect Data Theft and therefore very difficult to remove. So, ultimately you might just be looking toward a new drive. I do wish you the best of luck and let us know what happened.

Sounds like an activated boot protection - if it is the Laptop should also not boot from CD / DVD. If so give the battery remove a try.
At least I would stay away from dubious crack programs, hacks, e.g. and take it to Acer service. I know too much people beginning their description of what has happened with "I downloaded that exe from a hacker site in order to ... and wondering, why all of my passwords do not work any longer ..." and like that.

Seems it's no mean feat - contacting Acer and paying them to remove it being the common answer.
One thing to try is removing the CMOS battery for 30 minutes but I doubt this would work as it will be stored on EEPROM.
Also came accross a worthwhile read but not sure of how much use it may be as I can't test it :0

If you forgot your Acer laptop password and it's the Windows login password, you can try to use the SmartKey Windows Password Recovery 6.0. It is a nice program to help you with your Windows login password recovery problem.
You can also use the second method, such as the Windows password reset disk, the Ophcrack or the safe mode. You can even take your Acer laptop to the Acer customer service center!
