I poked my top microphone hole with a sim ejector tool what damage?

So I acidentaly inserted my sim ejector tool into the top Mic hole - Could I have damaged the waterproofing or the Microphone itself? Is there any way to test the top microphone?

Cool video... this answers the age old question, "I mistakenly poked the mic hole with the ejector tool, did I damage the mic?"... The answer is no... I'm sure all phone manufacturers thought of this... on pretty much every phone, the actual mic is off to the side internally...

Yes. You could have done quite a lot of damage. I doubt the "water proofing" is damaged, but you could have punctured the microphone. I would say, do a phone call, or just install a recording app on your phone then play it back. If you damaged it in any way, it will sound BAD or completely inaudible.

The microphone is fine I made phone calls already only thing I'm worried is that the waterproofing damage

da

I highly doubt it. most of the time that waterproofing is just a small mesh. It would have flexed with it. Nothing to worry about.

Dont listen to Kevin I actually doubt hes been inside the note 8 because the top mic is not used as a normal mic it's used to cancel out noise and if you open a note or 9 the top mic and bottom mic is of at an angle so it's almost impossible to puncher it if you need proof watch the YouTube jerryrigeverything and his teardown he Shows you and explains that nothing happens.

how do i fix it... i poked the mics on the bottom and their broken and i cant call or record anything because the mic doesnt work

I accidentally poked my daughters mic hole on her tablet thinking it was where the sim goes. And how no one can hear her talk when she makes calls.

How can I fix it??

Dont listen to anyone here the mic on top is off at an angle so it won't puncher the waterproofing nor the mic if you need proof watch the note 9 teardown on a YouTube channel called jerryrigeverything he explained that the mic and waterproofing is of at an angle so even if you stick it in it wont break or damage anything.

Is it the same case with OnePlus 7

da

Thank you for informing me. I believe you because millions make that mistake so the manufacturer probably designed the device to prevent damage in that area.

I've just done exactly the same thing.

da

same i did with my one plus nord.

Ask anybody that says yes that you damaged it, the mesh, or the rubber gasket, if they've actually had a phone apart and seen the sim popper/paper clip inserted and actually what it came in contact with. Most people that say something's damage has never seen the internals of the phone with this inaction.

@flait111 thank you for indirectly helping. Your accidental poking of the microphone slot with the sim ejector tool helped me with my "muted" microphone problem. Apparently, it was being clogged by debris. Gently scooping 80%of it out w the sim ejector tool was more helpful than blowing into it as adviced by a lot of online note8 users, then following it up by gently brushing it w a soft bristle.

I also mistakenly poked a paperclip into the mic hole on top of my s21 and now voice type doesn't work. Bottom mic for phone calls works fine. Any suggestions for fixing this? Does my phone need surgery?
