@roovb2000 always check the battery door first. If it does not close properly your camera does not get the power. You also did not tell us if this camera worked before you changed the batteries or if there was any prior damage.

Yes door shut worked fine before said battery exhausted replaced several batteries
Just to make sure, you did insert the batteries the right way (not trying to insult you but it does happen) Also check the answer by @flyingdutchman on here Why won't my Nikon Coolpix L830 camera turn on?
I'd hate for having to tell you that you have to tear your camera down and check the DC-DC board etc. Schematics are almost non-existent and we do not want to send you down a proverbial rabbit hole
