Smell of the motor is like toy race cars

My son bought an old GE Food Processor for $5

It's an old GE D1-FP1B1B. Seems to be in good condition. He bought it for making laundry detergent.

So here's my question. It smells like the old race cars we played with as kids when it runs. Does anyone remember that smell? It was normal for those cars. They ran on a slotted track which is where they received their power. I believe it was the oil or maybe the brushes, but it was normal for those toy cars. I wonder if this is normal for this food processor, as well.

I have worked on a lot of electronics and this is NOT a normal burning motor smell or an electronics burning smell; however, the motors I always dealt with were large, not kitchenware stuff, so I have never smelled this outside of the old little race cars.

I know what burning wires, resistors, capacitors, diodes and motor windings smell like. This is not one of those smells.

Thanks for reading

Mike Glover yes the smell of those brushes on those little engines....;-) anyway have you taking it apart yet? Noticed anything unusual? Can you very the model number for us? I do not show anything by GE with those numbers

Model No. D1 FP1B

GE General Electric D1 FP1B Food Processor

Sometimes written D1FP1B, FP1B, D1 FP1B or GE D1 FP1B

>>>It is NOT "FPI-XXXX"<<<

The model number was taken from the bottom and is molded into the plastic. I have found many of these listed online.

I have the bottom cover off because I am cleaning all the parts and the bottom cover was solid plastic only held by 4 screws, so it went into the sink with the other parts. Motor turns freely and nothing looks unusual. Ihave not removed the belt or bracket holding the motor. It all looks clean inside.

I do find it odd for GE Food Processor to smell like that, but I do believe its normal, unless it starts acting up or you find it not performing right.
