Won't charge or hold battery power
Could it be my from my Son having played too many hours with it plugged in that it's ruin the battery storing power?

My step-children are constanly on their tablets with no issues. How often is the tablet plugged in? Constant charging will deplete the batteries stanima; as it will rely on DC current. 2nd option is , background apss running constamnly go to setting and close background running apps as those will kill battery.
