Yes it is possible, but it requires a very good “technical" repair skill.

My kid spilled a glass of water over his U430/i5 and after drying it for a few days, and checking inside, many keys had stopped working. I had to buy a new keyboard, and at that time, I only found it in a store in Japan. They did not have any instructions on how to proceed for the replacement (ie just wished me good luck).

So what I engineered for this fix was this:

Start by downloading the maintenance manual/guide from Lenovo (or the web) to disassemble the laptop (and disconnect battery - no power please!), and use a clean (static free) place to do this, and keep track of all screws and (or take pictures each step of the way) or you will end up with lots of spare parts and a bad device.

1) you will see that the keyboard uses plastic rivets (looks like white dots) to fix the keyboard to the chassis,

2) so I needed to “cut” each rivet (heads) of them with a stiletto blade (and they are many!), to be able to release the keyboard.

3) Exchange the keyboards, and then you will need a soldering iron to reattach the keyboard again, melting each rivet head (remember, they are many!), one at a time, resembling the original fixture.

I took me about 3 hours of non stop work (from 9PM to mid night) to finish and be able to boot laptop again.
