Missing display assembly bracket

Hey.

The other day I opened my 6 Plus for the first time ever. It has never been repaired my anybody else either.

However, the metal bracket holding the display cables was not there??

Also, usually on top of the connectors, there is some sort of foam to press it down into the socket. It wasn't there either.

I was thinking about contacting Apple, but obviously, i'm not allowed to open the phone. Is there anything I can do?

Did you buy the phone as new or did someone own it before you? Was it a replacement phone that Apple gave you in exchange?

I once had a similar situation with my personal iPhone. I opened it up one day to notice that screws and the battery bracket were missing. It took me a while to realize that the only people who had access were the Apple Geniuses. Even geniuses are not perfect it seems ;>).

It is possible that this one made it through original manufacturing with these errors, Apple does make tens of millions of these. That said, no foams and a missing bracket are usually a sign of low quality replacement parts and poor workmanship.

You don't say why you opened up the phone but it sounds like it was working before so these are not critical issues. You can order the foams and brackets if you want to make your phone whole again.

Someone had the phone before me - but only for 2 days and it wasn't even taken out of the original box, so i'm quite sure it has never been opened before.

It wasn't a replacement either, it was straight from the store.

I opened the phone to change the battery, so it works okay yeah. I have ordered the bracket from china, but I forgot the foam, whoops :O

Thanks for the answer.

Straight from the store...

You do realize that Apple will give replacement units that are refurbished when you bring one in for a repair that they don't do on-site. So unless the previous owner bought it at full price, you have a refurb unit in your hands.

If it works, it doesn't matter. You should just know what you have and what you paid for.
