Vertical lines on iPhone 5s during refurbishment

Hi everyone.

We recently started to refurbish iPhone screens. We are doing well with iPhone 6, but we have lines problem with 5s. Something around 30% of screens have vertical lines. We tried to reconnect them and it didn't work out. I heard it might be because of static electricity but we use antistatic silver paste. We tried to apply it in different ways it doesn't help, pretty sure there is no mechanical damage of flexes or screens. Anyone experienced the same? How to solve this problem?

My guess is that the mould being used isn't perfectly aligned with the screen to do refurbishing. Go sign up on the iFixit Pro forum and ask there.

The solution for them was just to keep buying moulds until they have one that perfectly fits. Another reason is how the screen ribbon cables are sitting with the mould.

They have the best LCD refurbishers (with loads of knowledge) for iPhone series screens there.

It is likely that you are damaging the contact points where you are applying the static paste. This could be happening during lamination or potentially when you are removing the glue that is on the corners of the display. The lines you see are almost associated with the top right and left corners of the display being damaged. It seems unlikely to me you would only see this issue on 5s, are you also seeing on 5 and 5c?

We got these lines before we put antistatic paste. We worked only with 5s so far. There are 3 types 5s screens with different patterns in the left upper corner. So we can successfully refurbish only 1 type. With other types we have lines issue. Still have no idea why. I attached photos of those 2 types which have lines problem. In rear cases we manage to refurbish them without lines, but it's something about 3-5 % of them.
