Text Messages not working

I am getting some text messages from people but others say DOWNLOAD. I have my SMS enabled, what is going on??

I even got some text messages from people not in my address book (but that I know) and they worked fine.

I'm thinking emojis from an Iphones?

I have AirVoice plan (At&t)
