Touch ID Not working after screen replacement, clueless?

So I replaced a screen with an original Apple screen on my iPhone 6 Plus. The home button extension cable did not make it when transferring it over so ordered a replacement and that has arrived, I fitted that in now, the home button works but the touch ID does not. I already had my fingerprint added into the phone before the screen replacement and it is still there, I have had no error pop up saying that touch ID failed to register so I know it's fine as it's been recognised. On the lockscreen it says 'touch id or passcode' to unlock but when i put my finger on the home button nothing happens. When I go to add a fingerprint there are no errors but when touching the home button no fingerprint image forms on the screen during the process of adding my fingerprint. My option for fingerprint unlock is also not greyed out so it must be fine? Does anyone have a solution for this, I made sure the battery was disconnected during the repair so it could not have been that.

Thank you in advance

Try a hard reset (home & power button for 10 secs). If that doesn't work, inspect the Home Button Extension flex very closely as well as the connectors on the the Home Button Flex. Even minor damage or debris could make the Touch ID functionality fail.

Thank you for your comment, upon further reading online I don't think debris is an issue with my device, nor any damage. There seems to be no damage at all. The extension cable I ordered is questioning to me as I read online of a user saying that some low quality extension cables will restore home button functionality and activate touch ID but will fail to read fingerprints. What's your opinion on this? I may order another part and try to find an original one to confirm my suspicions in a week or so.

In theory, an extension cable/flex is just a bunch of parallel wires. If they're all there and properly connected, then their shouldn't be any issues with functionality.

I agree that a low quality flex may exhibit some problems as it may suffer from poorly soldered connectors or very weak copper traces that may have cracked internally.
