(remove lens and with camera on press shutter release button) the lower right corner of the mirror was binding with the stop. We were able to GENTLY pry the lower right corner of the mirror away from the stop (from the right, not underneath) and now it is functioning flawlessly.

Ciao ho una Niko D3100 e, un giorno, accesa, ho provato a passare in Live View, ma mi ha detto "Errore. Premere di nuovo il pulsante di scatto". Inutile dire che pur premendo... nada de nada. Su qualche forum ho letto che aprendola e portando manualmente la lente sotto... funziona. Lo ho fatto e devo dire che il problema si risolve se scatto senza Live View. Ma se passo a Live View... addio. Si riblocca. Qualcuno che ha avuto lo stesso problema? Grazie.
