Went to use my tablet the other day and pressed home button and the screen displayed as normal but in negative colours, isn't the negative setting in settings

Check Settings --> Accessibility --> Vision
There is a section in there with a check box for "Negative Colors".

Nah that's not it already tried, also backed up and factory reset

I believe your display settings are off. Go to settings>accessibility, then go down to the bottom where it says display. Make sure your color correction is off, and also make sure your inverted colors option off. If this doesn't fix it, go to backup & reset, and do a factory reset. Make sure you backup anything important before reseting. Hope this helps.

Thanks George but unfortunately it's not that and factory reset doesn't fix the problem so maybe it could be a screen problem but trying to get answer before spending the money
Did you purchase it in the last year? New or used.
2015 I think, brand new
I never heard of this problem before. Do you have a chrome cast, mhl Cable or some other way of mirroring your screen?
Have you installed a program like "Twilight" or 'f.lux' where its supposed to adjust colors at night so that you can sleep better after you using your phone at night?
On my device, the problem was the checked negative colors box. I unchecked it. Fixed. Why even have a box that says that? That's dumb. Why isnt there a box that says "self-destruct"?

Wow guys thanks for the feedback, I went to acessibility, clicked on vision and discovered negative colours was on.thanks a bunch.
