MacBook Pro Freezes and Shuts down

Hey there,

I'm having some trouble with my MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Late 2013.

The computer will frequently freeze and after a few seconds of freezing the screen, the sound, the trackpad and keyboard the computer will shut itself down.

The main causes seem to be high CPU usage, Graphics usage and sometimes long time usage will also make it crash. Switching desktops also seem to make it freeze but it's not that often.

I'm already running Macs Fan Control to have my fans run at high speed all the time because when they run on automatic they won't speed up.

I use my computer mainly for video editing jobs and other graphical programs but it seems the computer can't handle much work before overheating and freezing.

I've already changed the thermic paste but to no result, I'm hoping someone has had some similar problem and that can help me.

Thank you,

Miguel

Hey there, thanks for you answer. I'm not sure the problem might be from that but I can't really test that theory since this macbook uses M-SATA SSD and I don't have any other drive of that kind to test. :/

yeah true. :/

How much thermal paste was applied? Was it like the same amount it had on there before? Did you clean the heatsink vents and fans from dust buildup?

da

Yeah I did clean it up and tried to remove every bit of dust, I applied the same amount of thermal paste as possible.

It seems to me the problem is somehow related to the fact that the fans won't detect when to start working. If I'm not using the Macs Fan Control then the fans will work at minimum speed all the time even if the laptop is overheating. Is it possible that some heat sensor lost its sensibility?
