@ralph12 , Mary, since there is no mention of which model #, etc., there are 2 types of vent valves one type just pushes in and pulls out sealing on a rubber O-ring and the other type has to be threaded in or out to replace. Assume yours has threads and try turning it out like you would a bolt, if it just spins and does not come out then it probably should just pull out with a little back and fourth twisting motion while pulling it up. Mary, add more info to your question, year,make model # HP, is it Hydro trans axle, etc. and your complete question, so we at ifixit can answer your question effectively. why are you wanting to change vent valve?
