My phone wont soft reset

my phone died and wouldnt accept charge then when it did finallly attempt to restart it froze so i tried soft reset ( hard reset isnt an option as i dont want to lose my photos on internal memory,) it wont complete the sopft reset it keeps telling me the phone nedds charging , but the phone doesnt recognise the charger is in and refuses to charge, just alternates between nokia logo and batery charging icon but doestn soft reset what can i do
