How can I secure the charging port of my Infant Optics DXR-8

The charging port on the monitor is loose, I think. We have to hold the charging cable in just the right way for it to charge. Can I just go in there, adjust it, and hot glue it in place? Will that last?

@keenq05 , check warranty, if still under warranty return for repair/replacement. If out of warranty. The charge port in question is the USB type which is probably soldered onto the board so hot gluing probably would not be effective. If not comfortable fine soldering, a cell phone or computer repair shop could probably manage the repair fairly easily. Have a tech. take a look and estimate repair. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

UPDATE: for @frampgirl12, Look in the charge port and blow/pick out(carefully) any dust/debri that may be causing an issue also look in the port for any bent pins and straighten very carefully with a tooth pick. If port is found to be bad/loose/damaged , this is really not a repair for the inexperienced because the charge port for your device is soldered to the mother board and the heat generated could cause further damage if not very careful. I will post a link to a tear down guide to get you inside the tablet to check the charge port and will also post a link showing what is involved in repairing a mini USB attached to the board. You can also do a search for a replacement charge port using make and model or match it visually perhaps with one from a seller online.

I'd hold it in place with it plugged in so that you know it is charging while lying on a flat surface, then put a couple of drops of super glue on the plastic to hold it in place. Let sit for a few minutes, make sure it is charging, flip it over and repeat glueing.

So, you glued the charger to the monitor?

I opened my unit, the issue was not the connector, the connector was not damaged at all. The real ISSUE is the cable micro-USB tip. I used a longer tip cable it works great now. Standard micro-USB tip is about 5mm to 6mm, I bought a new cable with 8mm.

Give that a try instead of trying to fix the port.

This did not work for me. The new cord you suggested doesn’t go in all the way or charge the monitor.

our charging port for this seems to be broken also. The repair shops says it would cost $90 to fix it. Any idea how to do it ourselves

The tank worked well for a while with a few small complaints that led to larger nuisances. Whenever refilling the tank the plastic piece breaks on comes off making the device almost unusable, molten hot vape juice shot straight in your face. I found a way to overcome this by being more delicate with refilling the vape juice, not too much of an issue as soon as you know to be aware of it it.

HOWEVER, the charging port that comes with the device pulls out the metal piece that assume is meant to keep the charging point in place to where it may work properly.. this leaves the user with the problem that recharging this difficult if not impossible.

I respect the product but this seems to be a fatal flaw in the design. I hope that there is improvements in the future.... if not I am likely to switch to Juuhl.
